Like most groups and clans out there, we use an online communications system to communicate with each other in game and out. Our choice of comms is Teamspeak. We are using Teamspeak to not only communicate in game happenings and goings on but to facilitate friendships with one another. This is really key for us here and we trust all can appreciate what we're doing to ensure the platform exists for that purpose.
1. We use Teamspeak3
We believe that comms is not a right but a privilege here. This is noticed immediately when a guest joins he/she is directly moved into the lobby channel. This is both a safety and recruitment issue. Safety in that we do not appreciate spammers, trollers, or soundboarders jumping in channel and violating the usage of our teamspeak. Recruitment in that the use of comms is, indeed intended to be a privilege. In most cases, a -=UGF=- member should notice that a guest is in the lobby and approach the person. Upon membership to -=UGF=- however, the new member WILL have the ability to access all channels in Teamspeak as per the others.
2. Be civil and don't be a donkey!
We don't have a mandate for the prevention of foul language like other groups. All we ask is that people be civil and respectful. We are aiming for mature gaming here and all our members come from all walks of life, therefore flexibility and understanding is required by all....but just don't be a donkey! :-) Admins do have a mandate, however, to pull members aside to warn them if they are going over the boundary and if necessary kick them from the server/s. Again, no donkeys...no problems. ;-)
3. Use the appropriate Teamspeak channel
If members are playing Arma2, they should be in the Arma2 channel, not in the Left 4 Dead channel. Channels are there for a reason and if other people join teamspeak and wish to play Arma2 and see the channel's empty (even if there'd be members playing there from the L4D channel) they likely will choose something else...or worse yet not play on our own servers. Please make it a habit to join the appropriate channel when playing.
4. Use of Teamspeak when 5 or more members are present in a channel.
This can be used for official meetings or for game situations. It's important to do your best to allow one person to speak at a time. This is especially important (and hard) because of the lag between one person and another. As in real life, interrupting a person is considered rude and only creates more noise for those listening. Whether in game or in meetings, please do your best to allow one person to speak whenever possible.
